Petition to Free the Kids from Slavery in Haiti

The children of Haiti need your solidarity and support in telling the Government of Haiti, The United Nations, and Haiti's Allies - particularly the United States - that there must be a concerted effort by all to end childhood slavery. People often point to a case or two where children were placed in another family's care and the children benefited. But these are few and far between. Too many restavek children go without food, go without education or medical care. They are often neglected and, sadly, abused. Add your voice to ours in defense of the children who have no voice.

By signing this petition you agree that:

• The practice of "restaveks", the equivalent of "child slavery", in Haiti should be condemned immediately.
• Laws protecting children from childhood slavery should be enforced rigorously.
• Every Haitian child should live without the fear of being forced into slavery.
• Haitian children should have the right to live and grow with dignity.
• Haitian parents should have the opportunity to earn a living wage to support their families with food, shelter and education.
